About the video: The music video is centered around the Kayi Tribe symbol, as an homage to the Turkish television series, Dirilis (Resurrection): Ertugrul, as well as the Turkish historical figure Ertugrul and the historical Kayi Tribe. The music is a rock cover / rendition of the theme song from the show using instruments typically found in rock band. Instead of using traditional drums, Turkish Saz, or flute, 7Stations uses rock drums, distorted guitars, acoustic guitars, bass, synthesizers, and piano. The video shows the members of the band, MHMD and Meek, performing the various parts of the song, and providing a glimpse into the instruments that were used to recreate the Ertugrul theme song. The video also includes imagery that reflects the Islamic tradition, and ties into the band members’ Muslim faith. The Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle, and the crescent moon (as seen in the music video) plays a significant role in the Islamic tradition, as well as in the Turkish flag. The 8-pointed star (also in the music video) is also found in many Islamic geometric patterns and imagery around the Muslim world. These images are incorporated into the music video in order to highlight the Islamic tradition that underlies the Dirilis (Resurrection): Ertugrul TV series. Dirilis Ertugrul tema müziği.
About Ertugrul: The television show Dirilis (Resurrection): Ertugrul is a Turkish historical adventure television series that highlights the history of the Muslim Oghuz Turks in the 13th century, and highlights the life of Ertugrul Gazi, the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. As a Muslim rock band, 7Stations feels inspired by TRT’s portrayal of Islamic history and groundbreaking form of Muslim entertainment in what the world knows as Dirilis (Resurrection): Ertugrul. In recent years, the television series has grown in popularity outside of Turkey, especially amongst a Western Muslim audience. As huge fans of the show and the show’s soundtrack, 7Stations hopes to pay a tribute to the show’s underlying message, history, and Islamic roots.
About 7Stations: The Muslim rock band 7Stations fuses Arabic Islamic / Sufi spiritual poetry and traditional North-African melodies with modern musical styles. 7Stations consists of two founding members, MHMD and Meek. MHMD is an Irish-American Muslim, born and raised. Meek comes from a Jewish background, and converted to Islam in the early 2000s. Together, they are on a musical journey to spread a universal message to the world through their rock renditions of the poetry of the Moroccan Shaykh, Muhammad ibn al-Habib, as well as other traditional and modern Islamic songs.
